Féile Fichille Tournament at Ennis National School

On February 18th, Ennis National School was delighted to host a Féile Fichille Tournament in our school hall, welcoming over 150 students from ten primary schools for a fantastic day of chess. Each participant played five matches, enjoying a fun and friendly atmosphere that encouraged teamwork and participation.

The emphasis is on maximum participation rather than competition, ensuring every child gets the opportunity to represent their school in a supportive and enjoyable setting. An experienced chess arbiter was present on the day, using the Swiss Perfect system to match players of similar ability.

The tournament followed the Ficheall.ie structure, starting at 9:30 am and finishing at 2:00 pm. Players took part in two matches before a short break, another two before lunch, and a final match in the afternoon. At the end of the day, each school received a Certificate of Participation to mark the occasion.

A huge well done to all the students who took part, and thank you to our teacher Gary Walsh for facilitating such a fantastic event!
