Réalta Draíochta Montessori and pre-school was established in 2010 by managers Kathryn Quinn and Martina O Loughlin. Children in the preschool learn through play, there is a healthy balance of child-directed and teacher-guided activities offered. We believe that a safe and nurturing environment is paramount to a child’s individual growth and development.
Our play-based approach provides a child-centred curriculum that is guided by Aistear (the early childhood curriculum framework for children aged birth to six years) and is underpinned by Síolta’s standards (the national quality framework for children). Where children have freedom of choice in selecting age appropriate activities.
This program reflects the needs and goals of children and families. We realise that it is important to prepare preschool children for the transition to primary school. We work in partnership with parents, family and the community in the care and early education of children. We also provide a relaxed, stimulating environment that fosters friendships in our afterschool club, the fun club. All staff are qualified in childcare and garda vetted. Both managers hold a level eight honours degree in early childhood studies and practice from NUIG. Réalta Draíochta preschool and the fun club afterschool service are separate and independently run services offered at the school.
