Double Munster Badminton Champs!

Ennis NS shared a wonderful day on Wednesday, February 19th with Scoil Chríost Rí and Holy Family at MTU Bishopstown for the Munster Badminton Primary Schools Finals. There was great fun on the bus journey and during the day as the children showed wonderful talent, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

In the group stages, matches are played where schools match 2 separate pairings against each other. The first pairing in each game to get to 21 points wins a point for their team with the top 2 teams in each group moving to the Quarter Finals. In the QFs and beyond, 2 pairings play against each other where the combined score from both matches decides who progresses.

Match of the day came in the girls semi finals where our girls played Annascaul in a thriller. Schools were tied after winning a game 21-14 each. A deciding game to 21 was to be played with ENS coming out 21-20 victors. It couldn’t have been any closer!

Well done to Aisling and all at Munster Badminton on the smooth running of the day. ENS are very proud of their representatives as they became the first double (Boys and Girls) Munster Champions – a result of the hard work put in over the last few years! Huge thanks to Mr Walsh, Mr Nolan, Darryl, Rowan and all at Smash Badminton for continuing to raise the bar. Most importantly, congratulations to the boys and girls on a fantastic achievement! All Ireland Finals await in early March 😛
