Welcome back to Ennis National School
Welcome / Fáilte
We are delighted that Ennis National School will reopen on Wednesday, August 28th. Whether you are a returning pupil or joining us for the first time, we are excited to welcome you! The first day can bring a mix of excitement and nerves, but rest assured, our staff is here to help everyone settle in and feel comfortable. Encourage your children to ask any questions they may have – we are here to support them.
School Opening Times
School starts at 8:50 am, with gates to the playgrounds opening at 8:30 am. Supervision begins at 8:40 am on the playgrounds. To ensure everyone’s safety, children arriving before 8:30 am will not have access to the playgrounds or the school building, and there will be no supervision. The Board of Management accepts no responsibility for children before 8:40 am. These measures are in place to ensure the safety and protection of all.
On wet mornings, children can enter the building from 8:30am and wait in their classrooms until school starts.
Morning Minding Service
Realta Draiochta Preschool offers before-school and after-school minding services. If interested, please contact them at info@realtadraiochta.ie.
Ennis NS ‘Walking Bus’
We are excited to continue our ‘Walking Bus’ service from Éire Óg GAA Grounds each morning at 8:30 am. This initiative allows children to walk to school, get daily exercise, socialize, and helps reduce traffic congestion in the school carpark. We encourage you to let your children try the ‘Walking Bus’. Parents are also welcome to join and assist with supervision. A special thank you to Eire Óg for facilitating this service.
School Carpark and Drop-Off
The school carpark can get very busy. If you are driving , we recommend driving though the carpark to the shelter, dropping your children at the shelter and then driving off. Children can exit the car on the footpath side and proceed to their respective playgrounds. Infants will go to the infant playground, 1st, 2nd and 3rd class will go to the back playground and 4th, 5th and 6th will go to the senior playground. On the first morning, there will be staff members to guide the children if they are not sure. New pupils can come to the school reception where we have staff to welcome them to the school and to show them to the classrooms and playgrounds.
School Finishing Times
- Infant Classes: 1:45 pm
- First to Sixth Classes: 2:45 pm
Junior Infants can be collected from the Infant Playground and Senior Infants from the Senior Playground. All other classes will wait in the bicycle shelter for collection.
School Lunches
Lunches can be ordered from ‘The Lunch Bag’. Download the app from your App Store or Play Store to place orders. This is a paid service as we are not yet sanctioned for the government’s school meal funding. For inquiries, contact The Lunch Bag at info@thelunchbag.ie.
Volunteers Needed
We appreciate all parent volunteers who help with the Walking Bus and supervising the Pedestrian Crossing. We are in need of more volunteers for these activities. If you are available to assist, please email info@ennisns.ie.
For any queries, feel free to email us at info@ennisns.ie. We look forward to an exciting academic year ahead!
Yours sincerely,
Ray McInerney (Principal) and Brian Troy (Deputy Principal)
