Parents Association Meeting Nov 11th 2019
ENNIS NATIONAL PARENTS ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES
DATE OF MEETING: Monday November 11th, 2019
TIME: from 19:00 to 21:00
Welcome and Introduction
- As it was the first meeting with the newly formed Parents Association Committee and there were no appointed roles yet, Emer O’Reilly chaired the meeting.
- Emer took time to welcome all members and after the initial introductions, she proceeded to explain what the PA Constitution entails and how a PA Committee should be formed and the importance of the committee being compliant with it.
- The Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer roles were to be appointed on the night and Emer prepared very useful tips and description of responsibilities for each of the roles to be filled. The Committee reviewed and discussed each role prior to the election.
- The election took place and the positions were filled as follows:

Next PA Meeting – Tuesday 26th November
- The next PA meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday the 26th November in the staff room at 20.00.
- Parents are welcome to request items to be added to the agenda by approaching a committee member.
- Parents with ideas will be encouraged to join meetings.
December Events
Christmas School Disco – Friday December 6th from 18.30 to 20.00
- PA to run the tuc shop on the night.
- PA to set up the halla during the day.
- PA considering the purchase of Christmas table covers to help with the theme.
Discussion:
- It was brought by a parent via a Committee member that healthier food and drinks should be offered during these events.
Action:
- To be decided at next PA Meeting on the 26th of November.
Discussion:
- It was suggested that hot drinks (teas/coffees) are not served on the night of the disco as children tend to run around on the night and might be a cause of an accident, be a spillage or a burn.

Christmas Concerts – from Wednesday 11th to Wednesday 18th
- PA to provide tea/coffee for parents attending.
- If the PA has not enough volunteers per concert, we would appreciate the parents help.
School Photos
- The PA along with the school will coordinate the annual photos.
- County Photos – check their availability.
- Identify possible dates for discussion at next PA meeting based on County Photos and school’s availability.
- All children are expected to wear a full uniform on the day. No tracksuit or red polo shirts.
- It was suggested that 6th class students take a group picture with their original classmates.
- It was agreed to review the date photos are taken and to consider October after Halloween Break when kids return in winter uniform.
School Website & Day to Day Procedures – “Did you know?” Campaign
- All school procedures are on the school website, but the PA Committee will take it upon themselves to communicate regularly so new parents to the school are aware of how to proceed when they wish to raise an issue, contact the teacher, returning to school after illness, etc. It would also be a good way to remind other parents about the procedures to follow.
